When those living at Young House are ready to take the step towards independence, we are here to help.
The Supported Housing Outreach and Tenancy (SHOT) program is for young people from 15 to 25 years of age who need housing support. Our staff provide outreach to those living in AYSA’s six transitional houses, provided through the Great Southern Community Housing Association. Young people can stay in these houses for up to two years (we encourage them to find private tenancies where possible).
Through SHOT, we help young people maintain their tenancies and develop the living skills necessary for them to transition to successful independent living. Our SHOT youth workers help them access and engage in education, employment and training opportunities, setting them on the path towards financial independence.
We also provide support to those with young children to enhance their parenting skills.
While priority for single units is given to Young House residents, referrals are accepted from partner agencies or individuals.
Who it’s for?
Young people seeking independent living options or needing tenancy support.
